FAQ's

1) How many people can we invite to graduation?
As many as you like, there are no tickets and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. We've never run out of seats.

2) Must we attend the UNLV Commencement Ceremony?
Please plan on attending both the law school convocation and the University Commencement. We will be unable to hold a separate convocation ceremony if we do not maintain our attendance at the University ceremony. Your attendance at both events helps to ensure later classes will be able to hold a separate ceremony.

3) What should we wear for the Law School Convocation day?
Graduates wear gowns and cords (cords are optional). No tam or hood is worn for the convocation. Keep in mind you will be walking across the stage, so for the men please wear shirt, tie, long pants and dress shoes. Women can wear either pants or dresses with dress shoes. In other words, no shorts or flip flops!

4) How long is the Law School Convocation?
The convocation usually lasts about two hours, including the reception, which follows the ceremony.

5) What should we wear on picture day?
Professional dress, from the waist up.

6) Do we have to buy cords if we are in a particular student organization? Where can we get graduation cords?
Cords are optional. Cords are ordered through and paid for at the on-campus bookstore. For further questions please contact the graduation committee.

7) Where do we meet on the day of Convocation?
Before you walk down the aisle at Artemus W. Ham Hall, you will meet at Judy Bayley Theater (across from Artemus W. Ham Hall). This is where you will fill out reader cards, take a class picture and line up.

8) Where can our guests park for Convocation at Artemus W. Ham Hall?
Guests are allowed to park free in the parking garage off of Cottage Grove. There will be staff to direct them.
